Elevate Your Practice

Welcome to clinical supervision at Balanced Minds Counselling. If you're a therapist seeking to grow, overcome challenges, and enhance your skills, you've come to the right place. Let's work together to build your confidence and competence.

Benefits of Supervision

Clinical supervision offers a dedicated space for professional growth. We address what's happening for you and for your client in the therapy room. Although supervision is meta-theoretical, I keep in mind the models of change that most resonate for you in your practice to date. You'll also benefit from growth within my primary models of practice which include Satir, CBT, ACT and EFFT. My approach favours experiential change -- the kind of change that happens in the moment, in the supervision session. This leads to greater depth of understanding of self-as-therapist, locates your work in the wider context of professional community, and extends critical hope and wisdom to your clients. You should feel like your supervision is a room of your own, and a room that invites the best that your professional community has to offer for you and your client population.

Challenge Yourself

Clinical supervision provides an opportunity to identify professional blocks and move through them with confidence.

Navigate Complexities

Supervision provides dedicated time and attention to ethical dilemmas, legal matters, and helps clinicians avoid pitfalls in therapy that can lead to complaints.

Boost Confidence

We often enter supervision with questions, doubt, and apprehension. We should leave supervision feeling more competent, ready to take informed risks, and equipped to help our clients meet their goals.

Why Clinical Supervision?

Clinical supervision is a cornerstone of professional development for therapists. It's not just about addressing challenges; it's about proactively enhancing your skills, ethical awareness, and overall well-being as a practitioner. At Balanced Minds Counselling in Nanaimo, BC, I offer a supportive and challenging environment where you can grow as a clinician.

Supervision for BCACC Consent Agreements

I draw from a background in community-based integrated case management that has enabled a skill set and a way of being with people whose work is impacted by a formal complaint. I respond to this unique and difficult challenge in your professional life in ways that are supportive and dedicated to what our professional community agrees is a shared ethic of responsible care. I treat all consent agreement supervision clients with respect, and commit to helping them see the complaint as an opportunity to gain new insights into the experience of their client, and of themselves as clinicians.

Supervision for Well-being

Supervision isn't just about addressing challenges; it's also a prevention plan for compassion fatigue and burnout. It provides a space to process difficult cases, maintain professional boundaries, and rediscover your passion for the work. You're encouraged to prioritize your well-being, and in turn, better serve your clients.
